HMS Vikings Vs Tech Mahindra Risers

Not sure if you all remember who won IPL 2016, Sunrisers that's right. If you ask yourself why they won? Was it because of brilliant batting by David Warner? Was it because of great swing bowling from Bhuvi? Or was it because they were better overall as a Team? I would say its all of the above. A team that plays as a team wins as a team. What a game we witnessed the other day HMS Just butchered KESTE 11 and showed no mercy. Today was a new day they face a  new team , a fresh team and for sure a better team. Coming into to this game HMS Vikings had completed their unbeaten run of 10 games in a row and they had all the ammunition with them to make it 11. A good bowling line up and an explosive batting line up and to support it all a great unit on the field.

Winning 11 !!! Go Vikings
Vikings Lost the toss and were asked to bowl first, I guess last game had some influence on that decision. Ash opened the bowling attack and as said before he just "Attacked". Batsmen had no clue what hit them. The ball was zipping past the batsmen they couldn't spot the ball all they could see was ball ending up in Sai Kirans hand. Ash bowled a superb opening over taking 2 wickets in quick succession to put an early dent in TechM's batting lineup. TechM were 3/2 in 1.0 Over. Tight line and length and some brilliant catches from Sai and Shiva meant that runs were hard to come by. TechM were struggling. By the end of 5th over TechM were 22/3. Shub and Sudarshan again showed how crucial their role is in this team. Excellent variations in the bowling meant batsmen were struggling to pick them up.  With 43/5 of 9 Overs TechM had no option to just go after the bowling. But it was far to late for a master blaster of a innings. Ash bowling the penultimate over bowled a tight line and length and was rewarded with couple of wickets and ended his spell 4/7 of 3.0 Overs. Ramesh finished off in style picking couple of wicket of the last over restricting TechM for 58/9 in 12 Overs.

TECH M Batting

Vikings started their chase slowly and steadily. They knew that all they had to do was take singles and doubles and rotate the strike. Sai and Karthik did just that. Sai scored 15 Runs of 23 Balls and not even a single boundary (Captains Knock), thats how committed the boys were just. They knew they did not have to play rash shots and there was no need to panic. Karthik was middling the ball well and with his great late cuts and glances maintained his batting average by scoring 24(24) n.o. Sai eventually got out caught on the boundary for 15(23). When the runrate was creeping close to 5.5. r.p.o HMS looked somewhat troubled with 33/1 end of 7 overs, but in came the Coach himself , Ramesh. For some reason the way he walked into the pitch he looked like a man with a mission. He took matters into his own hands and just took off like a Tesla 0 to 60 in just 3 sec.. Hitting boundaries as if he was playing golf Sunday evening. Balls were disappearing over the fence  and with a blink of an eye they just needed 11 runs of last 4 overs. Ramesh just smashed one out of the park "Ball 1" and everyone knew that it was all over. Ramesh scored the winning runs and Fitting Finish..

HMS Won by 9 Wickets with 3 Overs to Spare

MVP : Ramesh ( Per Chauka.in ) But as a Blogger I think Ash's 4 Wicket Haul was the Key. So we nominate 2 MVP's this game

Ramesh and Ash

HMS Vikings Vs Keste XI

Go Vikings !! Winning 12
When it comes to cricket there is nothing more exciting than watching a fast paced , high scoring inning and cherry on the cake is when its your "Favorite Team". On Saturday we witnessed one of those games.  First game of the DCL Corporate League between HMS Vikings vs Keste XI. Vikings were considered to be the underdogs coming into the game , considering what happened last year , but least did people know that this is the same team which is playing Regular DCL Season in Division D, and guess what they are on top of the League.

Vikings Won the Toss and decided to Bat first a good decision considering they had a strong batting lineup. Karthik and Sai opened the innings and what a blazing start it was. Both complementing each other shot by shot and HMS were off to a flyer. Balls were flying in all direction , powerful shots over the mid wicket were followed by cheeky scoop by Karthik over the fine leg , quick and cheeky singles and singles converted to doubles were the Highlight of the partnership. With a blink of the Eye HMS were 48/0 by the end of 5 Overs. They were so amazing in the middle, they were literally seeing the ball like a football and they just punished Vinod for 18 runs in just 1 over. End of 6 Overs HMS were 71/0. Sai and Karthik were looking good before Sai got out scoring 39 skying a ball up in the air of Ratnakar. Ash came in next and he and Karthik continued their onslaught rest assured HMS were looking to score big. And score big they did. Karthik got Retired Hurt for 40. Ash and Ramesh continued hitting those boundaries and Kept the run rate over 10 Runs per over. Eventually HMS Finished scoring 139 in allotted 12 overs With Ramesh Scoring 27 N.O and Ash scoring a quick fire 15

HMS First Innings

Vikings knew that the game was not over yet and they still had to defend this total. KESTE XI did have a good batting line up and there were some key players who could chase this score down, but few quick wickets would turn the table. Ash opened the bowling and what a spell he bowled getting the key wicket of Velou and bowling a Maiden over on top of that was just a treat to watch. KESTE were struggling with the bat and could not middle the ball. Karthik (MVP) came to the party and took the key wicket of Ratnakar bowling him around his legs. KESTE were showing short burst of brilliance in the middle with occasional shots here and there but a great middle over bowling by Shub and Sudarshan meant that KESTE's required runrate was climbing up the ladder. Karthik bowled the last over and finished the game strong 3/14 of this 3.0 Overs. KESTE Managed to score mere 67 run of their allocated 12 Over.

HMS Won by 72 Runs

Black Hawks Vs Vikings

7/9/2016
Dallas, Tx

Go Vikings !!!!!

An Amazing day for Cricket overcast weather , light breeze and a ground that is Right in the middle of Trinity River. Vikings Knew coming into the game that winning this game would mean they are One step closer to what could be a Historical Championship. The Day started with a literal "Treasure Hunt" trying to find the Ground it was close to someone trying to find El Dorado. The Game was delayed by 30 Min and eventually started by 8:00 AM. Vikings Won the Toss and decided to bowl first ( Which turned out to be a great decision). Black Hawks, opening their innings with Harman and Tausif. Srikar opened the bowling for Vikings and usual opponents struggled with his pace. Vikings got their first break through from a brilliant bowling from Sachin getting Harman out behind his legs and stumps flying in all directions. Vikings sniffed the opportunity and put a slip in for the new comer who got an edge immediately. A brilliant effort by Srikar diving to his right , unfortunately he could not hold on it , but that lead to a mix up and Sai Kiran pounced on and got Tausif runout.

Black Hawks were struggling 7 for 2 in 2 Overs , with both their openers back to pavilion, Sachin and Srikar finished their brilliant spell and Black Hawks were 18/3 by the End of 4th Over. Rahul Bowled and brilliant over just giving 1 run and taking the key Wicket of Anup. Vikas and Manish tried to steady the ship with a partnership of 15 Runs before Manish got out skying one off Guru caught brilliantly by Jaggu. Chitanya bowled the final over before the break. By the End of 10 Overs Black Hawks were 45/5. Back Hawks came back strong by making some quick runs and vikings helped them with some sloppy fielding and bowling, but loosing regular wickets did not help the cause. We witnessed great Death Over Spell from Rahul and Ramesh ( R&R ) restricting Back Hawks to meer 85/10. Awesome Fielding by Siva , Chaitanya and Raj.

Chasing a total of 86 to Win of 20 Over Vikings Knew that they needed a solid start. They could not have asked more, what we witnessed was a treat to the eye. Proper Cricketing shots , text book cricket per say. Raj and Rahul seemed to be so comfortable in the middle that people sitting in the dug out were discussing about "Unlimited Meals" in Kumars Mess.. Back Hawks were so tiered they just wanted Vikings to finish the game so that they can go home early. Some Late Cuts and "Deft Touches" meant that they were rotating the strike and not letting the bowlers settle. Ones converted to Twos and putting pressure of fielders, it was just a treat to watch them play. Raj opened up after 4th over and started to attack the bowlers disturbing their line and length. Rahul as usual looked solid and was desperate to score big again. Scoring at a pace of 7 r.p.o. Vikings were 55 When the first wicket fell Raj , scoring 31 runs , but it was too late as the damage was already done. In came the "Finisher" Jaggu Bhai , with the burden of making sure he does not mess his average up, he did not disappoint us. Rahul finished the innings hitting the Winning Shot,  He eventually scored 40 Run and was their till the end.

Overall it was a great win. With two more games to go Viking will be focused on clinching the title.
